Lubelskie Voivodeship

The Lubelskie Voivodeship is a regional authority responsible for supporting the activities of the Board – the executive body of the region, the regional Parliament (Sejmik), and the Marshal. It performs activities encompassing the development and implementation of regional policy measures.
The Lubelskie Voivodeship is the third-largest in Poland, covering an area of 25,150 km2 and the eighth-most populated with 2.15 million inhabitants.

INVESTMENT ATTRACTIVENESS
• favourable geographical location – a natural link between the economies of Western and Eastern Europe, at the same time demarcating the European Union border ;
• climatic and soil conditions – highest in Poland insolation, which is conducive to the broadly understood agricultural production and the generation of solar energy ;
• rapidly growing economy – broad range of investment areas, the incentives and local investment allowances systems, and the authorities’ openness towards investors ;
• research capacities – the region’s academic potential is one of its greatest assets.

The current Regional Innovation Strategy of the Lubelskie Voivodeship 2030, adopted in March 2021, defines the directions of conducting innovation policy in the region based on the internal scientific and technological potential of the region.

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

International cooperation of the Lubelskie Voivodeship aims to support the development processes of the region by establishing and deepening contacts with foreign partners and implementing projects.

The Lubelskie Voivodeship counts 15 partner regions all over the world and is the initiator of the 3Seas Local Government Congress as well as the leader of the Network of the Three Seas Regions.

Foreign cooperation is supported by permanent membership in the Euroregion Bug, as well as the activities of the Institute for Local Government Development of the Lubelskie Voivodeship and the East Poland House in Brussels. Taking into account the need for the development of Roztocze, located on both sides of the Polish-Ukrainian border, the Lubelskie Voivodeship has become involved in the creation of a new Euroregion Roztocze.

In addition, the Lubelskie Voivodeship belongs to the European Regions Research and Innovation Network – ERRIN  and also participates in international economic initiatives, such as the European Photonics Alliance and Go4Cosmetics under the Platform S3 for Smart Specialisation.

The Lubelskie Voivodeship is an active member of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR).
